A naked mole rat is about the same size as a mouse. It’s hideous. It eats its own poop. And it lives to be almost 30 years old!
By comparison, mice usually only live for two years. Here's another naked mole rat advantage: Mice usually get cancer. But naked mole rats usually don’t!
There are some different reasons why naked mole rats live so long, but my theory is that they're so gross, the mole rats scare cancer away. Heck, if they were any uglier, naked mole rats would live forever!
