Happy Halloween!

This scarecrow is doing what's known as "hanging a b.p." — hanging a bare pumpkin!

"That book! It's horrible!"

Okay, okay, these folks are more horrified than disgusted. But since Halloween is coming, I thought I'd allow it.

Plus, I've been enjoying looking at pictures of people FREAKING OUT at The Nightmares Fear Factory. It's a haunted house, and— well, just go look at their pictures! (Via.)

Our neighbors get a little carried away this time of year...

First, they embrace the spirit of Halloween...
...then they decapitate it!
I walk quickly past this house...with my head down. :)

Now THAT'S a Halloween pumpkin!

Ray Villafane is an artist who can carve one mean pumpkin. Or even a disgusted one!
"This site drives me out of my gourd!"
Here's an on-line tutorial for carving pumpkins the Ray Villafane way.

Gross AND Tasty Halloween Treats

Part of the problem with making Halloween food is that sometimes:
1.) It IS disgusting but doesn't taste that great, OR...
2.) It's not that gross, but IS tasty.

So let me present TWO dishes that are gross AND tasty! First, a chef at instructables came up with a recipe for eyeballs that is truly awesome.

I mean, look at those things! And they're made with fruit? Amazing.

And a genius at I Make Projects uses Penn & Teller's recipe for Chilled, Bloody Heart that results in an amazing chilled, bloody heart.

Here's some more shots of the heart being presented to its delighted diners.

Poop-kin Pie?

I guess some pooping pumpkin pies are in my future. How else to explain folks e-mailing me TWO pictures showing how pumpkin pies are made?

I like how both pumpkins have to read something to work their magic. (Just like me!)
