If You See Someone Peeing, Blow a Whistle!

I love this story about BBC story about the problem of public poopers in India:
Volunteers armed with drums and whistles are being used under a new scheme to shame people going to the toilet in public . . . Four to five people will "shout, beat drums or blow a whistle" if they see anyone urinating or defecating in the open, an official told the BBC . . .
Nearly half of India's 1.2 billion people have no toilet at home and they defecate in the open. Correspondents say spitting, urinating and defecating in public are a common sight across India, and in rural areas many people continue to go out in the open even when they have toilets at home because they prefer the outdoors.
Now look at that last sentence again: "many people continue to go out in the open even when they have toilets at home because they prefer the outdoors"! (Photo via Sustainable Sanitation.)

"I can't marry you till you have a toilet."

In India, only 11 per cent of homes have a toilet connected to a sewer.

So most people poop and pee out in the open. That’s unhealthy. It’s stinky. It’s BAD.

An Indian politician named Jairam Ramesh pointed out there are more temples than toilets for India’s billion-plus people. And he’s trying to encourage young woman to think about this “before getting married. You should also look whether there is a toilet in your groom's home before you decide don't get married in a house where there is no toilet.”

Going to Tinkle: Where Learning Meets Fun!

Everyone enjoys a good tinkle now and then...oops, I should have capitalized that. I meant TINKLE, the fun comic for kids!

This comic is printed in India. Why do I mention this?

Because although it's written in English, maybe the TINKLE editors don't know of tinkle's OTHER meaning. (You know, the one that means "to pee"?)

On the other hand, a lot of the TINKLE covers have watery themes!

In fact, maybe the comic's editors DO know what tinkle means . . . and they're having a bit of fun with it!

If they keep doing that, sales will improve and TINKLE will be number 1!
