Whose eyeball is this?

A giant eyeball was found by a man walking along the beach in Florida! Over at NPR, they asked the question, “Can you ID it?” Here’s what some wise guy said:

While E.T. and a hurricane are good guesses, I also like the guy who said, “Sauron.” (BTW, the eyeball HAS been IDed. It’s from a swordfish!)

Pee shiver my timbers

Over at MSNBC is an analysis of “pee shivers.” If you’re female, you may not know that men (and boys!) have to endure this torture.

Our whole bodies are “abruptly racked with a mysterious, internal blast of cold that makes us visibly shudder from the shoulders down.” The good news is that:
  • It doesn’t last long
  • The pee shivers usually come as we’re finishing our urine stream, not starting it
  • It only happens when we’re peeing a LOT

According to Dr. Anish Sheth (author of this book), the pee shivers may simply come from standing up. So women and men who pee sitting down don’t usually get them.

But why does it happen at all? A guy named Dan Nainan wonders, “Could it be some sort of way to warn off nearby enemies or something?” Dunno! But I DO know that no matter how much you shake and dance, the last drop is going to end up in your pants.

A Gross Gas Mystery, Solved!

An individual known only as Mr. Kite has solved a long-standing mystery. Here ’tis!
I'd long wondered why, as a human, Mrs Kite can produce loud, ripping botty burps [gas], but dogs just produce a face-melting stink with minimal noise
Then one day it came to me; buttocks! Dogs have no buttocks to be parted and slapped back together when the gas escapes, whereas humans do!
